This is a starting point, a call to action, a signal. It can be digital or physical. A text message, a whatsapp data  banner or a push message on your phone. But it can also be a traffic light or shouting ‘cheers’ in a bar, which makes you perform a certain type of behavior – braking or drinking. ‘ Congratulations, you have a match. ‘ Few people can control their curiosity after this push message. A powerful mixture of hope for love, sex and vanity makes this message irresistible and makes you immediately look for who you like.

In the slipstream of Edward Snowden and his revelations about the practices of the NSA, there has also been a lot of attention recently for similar practices of companies: those of trackers. Trackers are companies that use technology to collect information about website visitors, the so-called tracking . Without this being clear, they register your actions and behavior on the internet. What they then do with this information is completely unclear.

My website does not contain any trackers

At first glance, tracking seems like something that mainly happens on the sites of the big boys like Google, Nu.nl or Marktplaats. But surely not on your own site? There are no advertisements on it, and tracking companies are really not interested in those few hundred visitors per month.

Or maybe not?
That’s not entirely true. There may not be any ads and you may not have made any conscious deals with tracking  marketing list  companies. But there’s a good chance that the behavior of your site visitors is being tracked in some other way .
