Who is your ideal reader? + exercise

Do you know how many times I’ve heard or seen the phrase “I’m writing a blog for myself” on the Internet? Hundreds. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that, really. You can run a blog for yourself.

But why do we often hear the question “why doesn’t anyone read me?” The only answer that comes to mind is “Why should anyone read you if you don’t write for them but for yourself?”

So if you want to increase the number of readers for your blog, it’s time to ask yourself – who are you writing your blog for and who is your ideal reader?

Who are you writing your blog for?

The answer to this question how and with what to attract clients to a beauty salon?  seems easy – but I still encourage you to do the practical exercise at the end of the text.

Believe me, it’s worth doing – if you do it correctly, you’ll really look at what you’ve done so far in a completely different way. This task will also help you with the implementation of the next exercises and it’s really worth putting in the effort because it can radically affect your blog.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

I recently saw a discussion tips for managing your business’s supply chain for 2021  online about personas. The post started with a question about the ideal reader – but the answers were about something a little different. The girls were writing about who might be interested in their blog and what they were writing about.

Who is your ideal reader?

Your ideal reader is someone country list  you already write for or would like to write for.

If you chose the first option, your task is a bit easier – you will start creating the ideal reader with Google Analytics and demographic data – this will be the skeleton of your ideal reader. Check the Audience panel > Demographic data to see how old and what gender your readers are.
If you chose the second option, you will be creating the ideal reader from scratch (but if you have any data, reports, statistics or lists that tell you about your target group, it is really worth using them – for example, I use the bloggers report).

Creating the Ideal Reader Persona
The task is to create a profile of our ideal reader. It has to be a flesh-and-blood character, someone who could really exist, someone you could meet in the real world.

Someone you could talk to.

Who is your ideal reader? How do you imagine them? Who do you write your texts for? Would you like someone special to read your blog?
