Learning with the DMI Library

No matter what stage of your learning journey you’re at, there’s plenty of reading for you on the DMI library.

You can bookmark our guide to Google algorithm updates, read up on how hybrid working has been changing, get ideas on how to use AI in a smart way in your marketing strategy, think about how to maximize your PPC strategy, or go over the basics of buyer personas (and download a new simple persona template). You can also get your teeth stuck into our latest report on the skills gaps identified by marketing leaders that we talked to.

Distraction busters

To help you make the most of your extra learning in the DMI library – and avoid distractions like reading yet more news or sms promotional campaign tackling some more housework – here are five of my favorite tips on managing distractions in your everyday work.

Join in and let us know in the forum about your top tips for distraction-free working.

  1. Set clear working hours: This can help you to “clock in and clock out”, especially if you’re working from home. Also, by communicating clearly to others, you are setting healthy boundaries.
  2. Have a daily to-do list of 5 items: I’m a big fan of lists for keeping track of all the tasks going on and coming up. However, sticking five key items to complete in one day helps me a lot by giving me focus and priorities.
  3. Turn off your email: This isn’t easy! However, try to get into a habit of turning off your notifications or closing down your email for at least a half day once or twice a week.
  4. Keep your workspace tidy: Wanting to tidy something is an easy distraction to give into. Don’t give yourself a reason to do it!
  5. Take regular breaks: An old colleague got me into the habit of taking a five-minute break on the hour, where possible. Even moving around your house or office is great! However, if you can get outside and let your mind take in the world that’s moving out there it can be like a quick refresh for your working brain.

Webinars, podcasts, videos, and more

You can still watch our mid-summer webinar with Rand Fishkin, who rattled through all the challenges marketers face right now. He explored different ways to overcome them – or at least see them with a different lens.

We’ve been keeping up our coverage of industry trends in social media. Check out our webinar with travel content creator Evelina Krusinskaite, who also donated a useful audit checklist for your Instagram profile.

Take a deep dive into the niche area of Pinterest marketing in a podcast we recorded with Dutch expert, Archana Haarnack.

Also on the podcast, we traveled (by video) to California to chat with Brian Finnerty, who gave us insights google ai overviews: what do they mean for search? into running the Marketing department at a global ed-tech company. Heading further across the globe, we chatted with Niamh Delaney somewhere between Bali and Australia, as she told us about her successful career as a digitally nomadic entrepreneur.

We aim to keep our library of short walkthrough videos up to date with AI tools. Check out this super useful one from Will Francis on the excellent Google NotebookLM, already one of my favorite go-tos for helping with research and editorial ideas.
