How to find a new job?

In June of this year, I made the decision to change jobs. Why? Because it became clear to me that I would either change jobs or become a frustrated, grumpy old hag. Option number two seemed very disturbing, so I focused on option number one: “How do I find a new job?”

I went to pracuj.pl and started looking at job offers. Because it was June and my specialization is quite narrow, there were few offers. Very few, in fact. But I was very motivated to find a new job.

How did I find a new job?

This fact made me change 8 corporate blog mistakes and what you can learn from them  my strategy. Instead of just updating my CV and sending it everywhere, I decided to really prepare for the topic thoroughly. I started with research, searching the web for information on how to write a CV, what recruiters pay attention to, how to stand out from other applications for the same position?

Effects? Out of 10 CVs sent, I received 6 invitations to recruitment interviews, and within a month I found a new job.

Not bad. Especially since two years earlier I got my first invitation to an interview after… half a year of unsuccessfully sending CVs.

So what should you pay attention to when looking for a new job?

1.Take a deep breath…

2. Research

Of course, I don’t mean lying on your CV by listing skills you don’t have, but to highlight the elements that your potential employer is actually looking for, and to speak “their language” – why should a recruiter wonder if a given person has the traits or skills that were in the advertisement? Wouldn’t it be better if they simply saw the same “keywords” in your CV that they themselves put in the advertisement? This will save them time and wondering whether you are the right person for this particular position.

3. CV Layout

Only after you have done your research should you start working on your CV.

What should be included? Name and surname, photo, contact details, name of your specialization, a short summary of achievements , experience (preferably the last two positions with a description of duties), education, skills, interests.

In my opinion, the most important element here is a short summary , in which you mention how many years of professional experience you have in a given area, what position you currently hold, and list your most important duties and achievements. It would be wonderful if you managed to include “keywords” from the advert you are responding to (you can even bold them so that no one misses them).
