Common mistakes when creating

A while back, a client came to us hating SEO with all his heart. He said he’d tri everything and wasn’t getting good results. The first thing we did was a technical audit of his website. What did we find? A bit of everything, but the critical errors were concentrat in one area: his website’s sitemap.

The problem with this is that a poorly done sitemap

Can hinder search engines’ ability to properly index and, consequently, crawl the site. Some of the errors we found in our client’s sitemaps were (since they have been fix):

Unorder prioritization . Although the sitemap file europe cell phone number list  includ <priority> tags , they weren’t assign logically. This caus the search engine to overlook some of the site’s most important pages and focus on others.

Non-canonical URLs

The sitemap includ multiple versions of the same page, with different URL types. One page, for example, was list with four different URLs To address this, we clean the sitemap of non-canonical versions and set up 301 rirects for the duplicate versions.

Sitemap not updat

Our client came to us in late 2023 with a 2021 sitemap. During those two years, their website had incorporat a significant amount of content. However, the sitemap hadn’t been updat, so it wasn’t index. After manually updating it, we implement an  taiwan lists automatic update system, which ensur the sitemap immiately display changes made to each page of the site.

Broken links and block URLs

Some of the URLs in the file we receiv from seo & ppc advice for fashion retailers  our client l to 404 pages. This, in addition to consuming site resources, frustrat clients, negatively affecting their response to the site. Other URLs were block by the robots.txt file, which prevent search engines from crawling them. What did we do? First, we check all the links and remov the broken ones. Second, we review the robots.txt file and adjust its rules so that the URLs in the sitemap could be crawl.

Errors in XML format

We’ve all miss a letter while typing. But when it comes to XML files, one letter too few or too many can make all your efforts go to waste. Wrongly clos tags, forgetting the XML declaration, syntax errors… anything can happen. The best way to prevent this and avoid uploading a file with errors? Run it through an XML validator to check that nothing is out of place.
